Managed Aquifer Recharge Schemes

A natural approach to recharging freshwater reserves by augmenting nature's natural processes.

Many believe that deserts are harsh, arid places that are hard to brought back to life, we at StraightLightConsultants (SLC) believe that the opposite is true. Every year, X million cubic meters wash through mudflat planes that could be harvested naturally to replenish fresh groundwater reserves. Harvesting this water could make a real difference in the local community and support the restoration of Azraq'a suffering wetland ecosystem.

In a recent feasibility study on Azraq's mudflats, SLC has identified that by constructing natural water reserves in four different areas we can increase freshwater reserves by x million cubic meters yearly. This water saving is the equivalent of the (... year agricultural needs for the surrounding area... or average water consumption of X householders for a year).

SLC is in the process of lobbying international experts and local stakeholders to raise funds and promote the idea a Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) scheme in Azraq to support its implementation.
